Happy Halloween!

I know it's been a while, and I should offer my apologies, but I talk to you few readers on a fairly regular basis, so you should all know what I have been up to.
Today has been pretty amazing. I made a huge pot of Italian sausage and lentil soup that was super-delicious, along with homemade bread. I get so excited when I bake a successful bread. It's a nice, hearty loaf; seasoned with two tablespoons of Tastefully Simple dried tomato pesto seasoning and absolutely perfect for dunking in soup. With all the cold and rain, tonight was a perfect night for soup.
Unfortunately, not so great for trick or treating. We opted to stay home and have some family time. We watched A Series of Unfortunate events and popped some popcorn on the stove. I did go to Wal-Mart and get the kids a bag of Starburst, since I didn't want them to completely miss the candy. I decided to try out some of the really cook Halloween tips I saw on Martha Stewart today. I love it when she has ideas for REAL people. Highlighters in water makes glow water. Awesome sauce! We used the glow water to make Oobleck (cornstarch and water) a ridiculously fun tactile experience; and to make Flarp (flubber, whatever you want to call it) with glue and Borax. We also made a lava lamp with oil, water, food coloring, and Alka-Seltzer (thanks, Martha!). After all that, I decided to use the leftover glow water to make some play dough. There's nothing better than homemade play dough. It's so easy, and it has the best texture of any play dough I have ever used. Nothing glowed quite like I wanted it to. The water looked really cool, but I used the cheap-o highlighters... meh, oh well. We had a great time, and the kids gave me big hugs and thanked me.
And my house is still clean :)

I feel like Super Mom today!

Hope everyone had as great a Halloween as I did!
